You may remember that you wrote on the 24th June
to Lord Wigram enclosing a despatch from the Governor of
Hong Kong, asking whether the King would be pleased to
become Patron of the University of Hong Kong.
In replying to your letter Hardinge asked whether
you could inform him if there were other Universities in
the Colonies whose claims might be considered as good as
that of the University of Hong Kong. I wonder if you have
been able to obtain any information on this subject?
